With it comes Hope
Hope of riding hard
Hope of riding long
Weather-beaten , cold, hot, wet and tired
But the face has a smile and a song plays along
Hope! For a life of joy and freedom.
Ride free….
The bike is here! Not just a bike, a Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark. The wait has been agonizing, Me and Alok (Team-mate at TW) booked our bikes 40 days back. We both picked up the black thunderbird, it was beautiful. We wanted to collect the bikes together. But one bike would be delayed by a few days.
So who gets the first bike, me or Alok? We tossed for it and I lost !@#$%. He got his bike and mine came in a few days later – It was a wednesday.
As you can guess, the sexy one without the back-rest, mirrors and with the shiny Yamaha RD 350 handle is mine. I fell in love with the Enfield this way – RD350 Handle, Low seat Thunderbird, no back-rest. This is how it had to be. So I actually bought the handle first and then the T-Bird. You could say that the bike was purchased to fit the handle
Yamaha RD 350 handle – Rs190
Thunderbird – Rs105,998
First Impression
The bike was delivered with the custom RD handle. Just perfect for me. Started with a kick (no decompressor) and we started for the office. Pickup was very surprising , the bike was ready to jump out of my hands and fly away. It was hard to control the urge to open up the throttle, but I wanted to keep it below 50-60 for the next 2000 kms. The engine had a soft growl to it with a smooth sound. However the actual thump of the bullet or Electra wasn’t there. This will change once the silencer is replaced.
We drove from the Jayanagar show room to the office in Diamond District. After reaching the office, the above pic was taken.
This was the beginning….can’t wait to fly
As usual i’ve jumped blogs. This is my third blog now.

I have booked a RE Thunderbird TS expecting to get delivery soon .Mean while i came across ur blog and thought of getting consultation regarding RD 350 handle on my bike as it looks cool on yours. So, i need to know whether those handles are comfortable in long rides? or should i customize it to match my comfy seating posture?
Hey Kumar (If that is your name)
I have done 550km, 250km, 220km solo rides with this handle and there were no issues. So just go ahead, because these handles are perfect for the city ride.
Hi nice modification ….. I also owned a TBTS silver. So if I change the stock handlebar with RD’S handle bar, is it required to change the cables ? And also is there any issue with the comfort and handling ? Plz let me know ……. Thx
You don’t have to change the cabling. There are no issues with handling. In fact, having a shorter handle makes it easier for city riding. I also did 500kms long rides with this handle and did not have any discomfort.
If you do have any issues, remember that you can always change back to your original handle!
Hi your Bird looks great with the RD Handle…. Can I request you a few more snaps or may be video, If you find time….
