A very eventful sunday
- Great early morning ride
- Awesome NICE highway
- A beautiful place: Ramnagar
- Stupid stunt on the Enfield
- A very uncomfortable landing
Let me tell you that single (left) hand typing is not fun. It’s almost 2 weeks since coming home to Hyderabad. Now recalling the day…
It was the 11th day after picking up the new shiny Black Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark 350cc. Zabil chose Ramnagar for our Sunday morning ride. Alok would join both of us. Zabil had a new Enfield Electra, Alok and I had 10 day old Thunderbirds, both of us bought them together. Unfortunately, both of us would end the day with dents. Of course, I was the extra unlucky one with a broken hand and a very badly damaged ego.

Arm and leg out of action and still smiling
The day started for us before the sun was out. Alok, Zabil and I met at the IIM gate around 5:30AM. We were all set for a beautiful Sunday ride to Ramnagar, a destination 50kms away. Ramnagar was suggested by Zabil, it was the place where the famous movie – Sholay was shot. The route would be through Baneerghatta road- NICE highway – Mysore highway and finally Ramnagar.
Getting on to the NICE highway from Baneerghatta road was quite a chore. We asked lot of locals, missed many turns and finally crossed a really horrible road, riddled gigantic potholes to reach the NICE highway. AAhhh the NICE highway, a motorists paradise, gateway to freedom. It’s a big 4 laned road which runs straight for kilometers and traffic is light.
Soon all three of us were zipping on this big empty road, an absolute delight from the traffic choked, narrow backyard type roads in Bangalore. I couldn’t contain my excitement and started standing up on the bike while on the ride, lifting on leg in the air and balancing and general stuff that most over excited bikers do, although they are more suitable when you interview for a clown at the circus.
We also captured some amazing pics while riding (taken with one hand while the other manages the bike).

A blind photo capture of the rareview

A perfect moment - Zabil and Alok resting their hand
As you can see, at 6:30 am on Sunday, this is one nice empty highway. It was quite safe to ride and take pictures at the same, all done at 70kmph. I was enjoying the fact that camera was digital, unlimited photos!

Taking a closer look

This was the NICE highway. After, we reached the Mysore highway. I’ll leave the amazing and tranquil Ramnagar, the blunder which cost my right hand to the next post, there’s just too much to right and show in one post.

Supper……..
